![]() ![]() It is however, the gore fest that some people choose to complain about. There are a couple of jump moments but nothing overly terrifying. I would not classify this movie as scary. When a couple of lines are read from the book, the gore fest begins. When they go searching for a bad smell in the basement, they stumble upon the book of the dead. We start with a drug abuser, Mia (Jane Levy) and her brother David (Shiloh Fernandez) and their group of friends trying to help Mia kick her drug addiction in their old family cabin. It has the same general plot with a couple of different interpretations. It is not so much a remake, but a revision. The remake of Evil Dead does not pretend to be something it is not. Those of you familiar with the original have got to go into this movie not comparing it to the original. So I went into this movie thinking “here we go again to destroy part of my childhood”. Everyone knows you shouldn’t try to remake a beloved cult classic, and nobody could replace Bruce Campbell as our loveable hero Ash. When I heard that they were remaking Evil Dead, I scoffed just like the rest of you. ![]()
